Spring Highlights

Here are a few spring highlights--primarily from our super busy April!  These do not include track photos as I will post on the boys' Dordt outdoor track season and the girls' high school track season later in May.

Every year the Tuesday morning women's Bible study at Cloverdale URC tries to do a service project.  This year we tied knots in fleece blankets for St. Alphonsus hospital.  They give these away to patients and family members so they are always in need of more blankets!

I prepped most of the fifteen blankets at home beforehand--trimming all the edges and cutting out the corners.

To continue to raise money for RYS Convention our youth group hosted a taco feed followed by a time of praise and worship.  This was wonderfully attended, and we appreciated our very generous givers!

The homeschool co-op again hosted a luncheon for the senior members of our congregation.  The students served soups, salad, and pie and showcased some of their talents and projects they had worked on throughout the year.

Russ and Anna flew to Iowa a few weeks ago to watch the boys run in a track meet and for Anna to visit both Dordt and Northwestern.  The weather was a little sketchy in the Midwest so Delta moved their flight from Thursday morning to Wednesday night.  This meant Anna had to miss the youth group taco feed and praise and worship night (bummer).  But they had a great time in Iowa and Grandpa and Grandma had a senior adventure driving to Omaha to pick them up from the airport.😬

The youth group also moved the Third Annual Amazing Race from the fall to the spring.  Many members of the church were involved either in manning stations or serving as drivers for the teams. Although it poured rain at the first station, the weather cleared for the rest of the evening and it turned out to be another memorable night.

1st Place Team!!

We were also blessed to have our Mountain Home airmen back in town after not seeing them for a couple of years.  Micah and his wife Chloe drove down from British Columbia with little Jimmy and Austin flew in from Indianapolis for the retirement of their boss while they were on base.

Russ putting Jimmy to sleep (or was it the other way round?)  A familiar pose I haven't seen for many years.

This is the only picture I have of Austin--in the white hat.
