Quick Trip to Salt Lake City

Caleb had planned to drive to Boise to visit us during his spring break, but since the new car they ordered still hadn't arrived he couldn't leave Mikaela without a vehicle. So, I decided to drive down to visit them for a few days. Caleb fed me his sourdough bread, took me to the Sugar House district and hiking in the canyon, and we enjoyed a beautiful day on Antelope Island.

Ligonier Conference

This year the Ligonier Conference matched up with Seth and Lydia's spring break, so we decided to head to Orlando in March.  Seth had missed almost the entire week before his spring break due to influenza, so the Florida sun gave some color back to his pallid face! (We jokingly call him our "sick Victorian boy.") Besides the conference we enjoyed hiking at a nature reserve, making a quick trip to the beach, and visiting the Kennedy Space Center.

We received this gift just before the conference😆

If you look closely you can see the turtles sunning on the log.

I had to get a picture of the Minions we slept with each night.

Spring Snapshots

Anna is home from Dordt for the summer, Seth and Lydia are taking their end-of-year finals, and Lydia is anticipating graduation from high school on Sunday. It is past time to update this blog! Here are a few random pictures from this spring.

We enjoyed having Anna home for spring break.  She loves spending time with her pets when she is home!

While Anna was home over spring break she was able to attend Seth and Lydia's spring BPYO concert with us.

The weather this spring was quite cool and wet.  We enjoyed many beautiful rainbows though!

We had one strange rain on a windy day that brought down all the dust that was in the air.  It looked like it was raining mud and everyone's cars and house windows were a mess.

We even had several spring snows. Zoe wasn't thrilled to walk while it snowed and I'm not sure my tulips and rhubarb liked it either!

Spring also brought influenza B with Seth as its victim.  For about 24 hours we struggled to keep his temp below 104, and it took about a week for him to be completely fever-free. He had lots of snuggles on the couch with his pets while he recuperated.

This is just to show that when a neighborhood dog barks at you while on a walk, you may need to look up!

Anna wrote an essay for a scholarship competition and was awarded $10,000 as the runner-up. Here she is presenting her paper to faculty and students at Dordt. She also presented her paper at the Kuyper Conference at Calvin University in April.
