Family Vacation Day 3

This morning after we ate breakfast we live-streamed the Sioux Center URC service. Nicolas and Josie had been enjoying Pastor Bushnell's sermons through Jonah and were eager to continue that series. After church, our first stop was Maligne Canyon and the hike to five bridges.

From Maligne Canyon, we drove to Maligne Lake. It began pouring rain so we ate our lunch in the van. When the rain stopped we hiked the Moose Lake loop. We had hoped to see moose, but today was not the day. The pictures below are of both Maligne Lake and Moose Lake but are in no particular order.

Seth recreated a hiking photo from when he was two, almost three.

On our way back to our Airbnb we stopped and waded in Jasper Lake. It was so shallow we could walk over halfway across and it still wasn't up to our knees. It did, however, freeze our toes!

Family Vacation Day 2

The second day we traveled from Sandpoint to our Airbnb in  Hinton, Alberta which is just east of Jasper. After an uneventful border crossing, we stopped for a picnic lunch at Olive Lake, a beautiful little lake fed by underground springs.

We stopped for gas in Lake Louise Village and then drove on the Icefields Parkway to Jasper/Hinton. We didn't stop on the way other than to take a few scenery and wildlife pictures, knowing we would stop at all these places as we gradually made our way back down to Banff in a few days.

Lydia took several pictures from the car window, not realizing that every time she lowered her window it made it a bit windy in the back seat for Seth. It gave him some nice hairstyles.

The Athabasca Glacier from our car; we visited in person later in the week.

Our only bear sighting was from the safety of our car--a mama and her two cubs.

Elk

Mountain goats.

After we unpacked at the Airbnb, we put homemade pig-in-the-blankets in the oven, and then Russ and I went to town to get more groceries for the week. We ended our night by playing the game Chameleon with the kids laughing at their mother's game blunders.
