Friday, September 13, the girls did not have school so we woke early, enticed the kids with yummy breakfast pastries, and drove to Stanley for our annual hike in the Sawtooth Mountains. We chose a new trail this fall at the recommendation of another "hiking family" in the church. The day started out quite cool but warmed up quickly and was a perfect day for hiking. Our destination was Alice Lake, a mountain lake at about 8600 feet elevation.
The first mile of the hike the trail followed the north shore of Petit Lake.
We crossed three or four streams.
No snow on the Sawtooths in September!
After 5.7 miles of hiking, we reached Alice Lake! The scenic vista was well worth the long hike. We took our time enjoying the view, eating lunch, and just resting up for the long hike back.
Zoe loves hiking in the mountains with us. This may have been a little long for her because she had trouble walking the next day.😂
Our view on the way back down to the trailhead.
